Neighborhood Wildlife Sightings
Dear Neigbhbors,
Over the weekend we had reports of possible mountain lion sightings in the area. Living and recreating as we do in the urban wildlife interface it is not uncommon to run into many types of animals in the neighborhood including bears and coyotes and even mountain lions.
As residents here it is important is to know what we can do to discourage animals from coming to our neighborhood and how to react if and when they do.
Great information can be found on the following websites.
Division of Wildlife: http://wildlife.state.co.us/Education/LivingWithWildlife/
Mountain Lion Foundation: Http://www.mountainlion.org/facts_safety.asp
You should also report sightings to the Division of Wildlife who track and monitor animals in our area.
Our local Division of Wildlife field office is in Hot Sulphur Springs. To report sightings please call Chris at 970-725-6200

WNA: Meeting Minutes, Board Election, Volunteers and Neighborhood Safety
Dear Neighbors,
We hope everyone is enjoying the beautiful March weather. A little snow and a little sun is a good mix giving us hope of spring while keeping the snow just right for skiing.
We have a number of short messages for everyone as well as the minutes which are attached from the recent HOA meeting that took place on March 9th.
The Board of Directors Election Ballots for the Board of Directors Election have been mailed. When you receive your ballot please select up to two candidates for our open seats. Be sure to follow the instructions. These must be post marked by April 30th.
Looking for Volunteers Summer Solstice – We are looking for a volunteer or volunteers to head up the Summer Solstice Party again this year. The party has a budget of $1000 and whoever heads it up can pick the date for it. Please contact Jennifer if you are interested in heading up the group or volunteering in any way. She can be reached by replying to this email at administrator@twna.net.
Poop Scoop Fillers – We have some dedicated neighbors who fill their local white poop scoop boxes with bags – we are looking for more volunteers for this task. Please contact Jennifer if you are interested in helping out and she will deliver you a supply of bags.
Kids and Safety in the Neighborhood We want to make parents aware of that children in the neighborhood have brought bullets to school . When questioned they have said they found them “on a green” and “in the woods” of the Wellington Neighborhood. We care deeply about the children of the neighborhood so please be aware of this and be on the lookout for these types of dangerous items. For parents please take a moment to discuss these types of potentially dangerous situations with your children.
Also as our snow begins to melt and French Creek starts to run it is so important to impress upon children of all ages that the creek is extremely dangerous. Just 3-4” of fast water can take down and drowned an adult. Please be sure to educate your children about the dangers of run-off. And if you happen to see children near the creek please take a moment to find out what they are doing and assure that they are not going to come to any harm.
Kindergarten Round Up April 7th 6:00 – 7:00 pm is Kindergarten Round up is being hosted at all the local elementary schools. Child care is provided for parents of incoming Kindergarteners.

Winter Solstice Reminder & Some reminders about the three P's.
Dear Neighbors, We hope you are enjoying the snow and the holiday season as it come rushing towards us. We have a fun holiday event coming up here in the neighborhood that we wanted to remind you about that as well as a couple of other items for these snowy winter months.
Winter Solstice Celebration is back – Celebrate the Neighborhood’s 10th Birthday! We wanted to remind everyone to join us for some merriment and fun when Santa & his reindeer make a special appearance to the Wellington Neighborhood on Tuesday, December 21st from 1:30pm to 3:30pm at Central Park on Queen of the West Rd to visit with kids of all ages and enjoy some yummy hot chocolate & cookies.
There will also be a Snowman building contest. Build your best Snowman by 1:30pm on December 21st (day of the celebration). There will be prizes for the funniest, most creative and best dressed snowman!
There’s more … There will be a recognition award the “Best Holiday Lights Display” in the neighborhood. So get creative and string up those lights.
Snow Plowing & Parking Ullr is blessing us with a magical amount of snow this season. We have done one push back and removal already this season and want to keep the alleys in the best shape possible. Please do your best to keep cars off the alley pans during snowy times. The alleys are a challenge to keep clear and snow stacked without any extra obstacles. The plow guys really appreciate when they have more room to work. The same goes for all of our guest parking areas. Please make sure cars move daily. This is vital when we have snow overnight so those areas can be plowed and snow can be properly stacked. Dog Poop & Loose Dog Reminders We have had numerous reports of loose dogs and even more sightings of abandoned poop piles. While unattended these beloved pets leave messes behind for someone else to pick up. Living in such a small neighborhood this is just not fair to your friends and neighbors. Please take the time to take your dog out and take responsibility for anything left behind. Your dog and your neighbors will appreciate extra the attention to these important matters.
Association Dues Coupons Posted here
In an effort to cut back on postage and printing we are posting our dues coupons on the website. You can now down load at your convenience and print at any time. They can be found on www.twna.net on the the Association Document and Resources page under Homeowner Resources. If you have questions or are having difficulty printing the form contact Jennifer and she can get you a set of coupons for your use.
Happy Holidays & Happy New Years to All!

WNA: Snow Removal for the season and winter tips
Winter is here – at least it looks like it…
We are sure that as the flakes fall you have plowing and shoveling on your mind. Here is some important info on our service contracts for the season as well as other important neighborhood reminders.
Plowing & Shoveling For the 2010 – 2011 season the Board of Directors has selected AllPhase as our plow company and Visor Construction as our shoveling contractor.
Our plowing contract runs from November 15 – April 30th, 2011 Our shoveling contract runs from November 1 – April 15th, 2011
They will be plowing and shoveling when the neighborhood receives 2 or more inches. We use our actual snow total and not the ski area’s postings since things can be so different on this side of the valley. We have also asked the shoveling company to continue the practice of doing the sidewalks that face the street after the town’s plow comes by. From a practical standpoint that means that they come early to do the walkways on the greens and for those neighbors who face the street they will be by later after the town plows the streets so that the windrows left by the plow don’t build up as quickly along the right of way.
Other important reminders and tips: Keep a shovel handy – in the case of multiple small dustings or continuing snow showers there will not be additional shoveling service on that day. To keep your walk way clear you will need to push a little snow to avoid snow pack from forming.
If you live on a street and have fenced in your front yard in please remove or bungie your gate open. The shoveling staff will not open gates. If the gate is closed they cannot shovel your walk way.
Another important note if there is pet waste on a walkway or green they will not be shoveling it along so please be sure to pick up after your pets.
For additional plowing service Brian Hume can be reached at: 970-409-8886.
If you have any comments or suggestions regarding plowing or shoveling at any point during the season please contact Jennifer at 970 453-5303 x 704 or via email to administrator@twna.net.
Winter Energy Tips from the Governors’ Energy Office: Schedule an energy audit : A home energy audit is the best way for you to determine where your home is performing well, and where it needs to improve when it comes to energy efficiency. Contact High Country Conservation Center for more info at: www.highcountryconservation.org/
Home sealing with caulk and weatherstripping: Caulking and weatherstripping is an easy way for homeowners and tenants to seal their home and save money and energy.
Adjust your thermostat at night and when not home (Winter): Turning your thermostat down to 60 degrees each night and when you are away can save you as much as 20% on your heating costs!
Lower water heater temperature: Lowering the temperature of your water heater will save energy and keep household hot water at a safe temperature for residents.
Seal and insulate your air ducts: Sealing air ducts will enable your heating and cooling energy to be delivered more efficiently.
Insulate your home: A building should be insulated from top to bottom: the foundation, the floors, exterior walls, the HVAC system, and especially the attic (think of putting a hat on in the winter to keep warm – same concept).
Get a programmable thermostat: Use a programmable thermostat to have your home's temperature automatically set to match your schedule…and save!
Insulate the hot and cold water pipes around your water heater: Insulating the hot and cold water pipes extending a few feet from your water heater will reduce the amount of energy your water heater will use to keep that water warm.
Insulate your water heater: If you have an older water heater or it is warm to the touch, you should.
ENERGY STAR Refrigerator: When replacing or upgrading your refrigerator, purchase the most efficient model you can afford. Be sure to look for the ENERGY STAR label!
ENERGY STAR Dishwasher: When replacing or upgrading your dishwasher, purchase the most efficient model you can afford. Be sure to look for the ENERGY STAR label!
ENERGY STAR Clothes Washer: When replacing or upgrading your clothes washer, purchase the most efficient model you can afford. Be sure to look for the ENERGY STAR label!

Aggressive Dogs We have heard that there are some dogs acting aggressively to other dogs and people in the neighborhood. Please remember to follow and respect the town leash law. We all live so close here it is vital to respect one another and make sure your pets are not leaving messes or even worse scaring people, dogs or children here in the neighborhood. More info on the town leash law can be found at: http://www.townofbreckenridge.com/Modules/ShowDocument.aspx?documentid=2161 If you come in contact with an aggressive dog do not hesitate to call the police nonemergency number at 453-2941.
